Student Success and Expectations

ACCESS courses are available to all Alabama students in grades 7 - 12.  It has been shown that successful students:

  • have a willingness to work hard
  • can work independently as well as collaboratively
  • have good communication skills
  • have a good sense of academic integrity
  • manage their time wisely
  • are not afraid to ask questions
  • have support from parents and other stakeholders

Students are expected to:

  • follow ACCESS policies as outlined in the ACCESS Student Policy Manual
  • follow teacher expections as outlined in the course syllabus 
  • follow the pacing guide as outlined in Course Information
  • work daily in the course by reading lessons and participate in learning activities, such as discussions, quizzes, projects, labs and group work
  • read course Updates daily to stay updated on teacher announcements, changes in course assignments, or additional instruction provided
  • ask detailed questions when coursework is not understood
  • do their own work unless otherwise specified by the teacher
